Something Stirs in the Blackscale Brakes: The Skull (WIP)

This is the very first cover I ever did art for:

This was all me. I don't want to sully Melissa's name with my shoddy attempt at coloring. It's awful and I hate it, but I did it because other indie people that I talked to at the time told me it was fine. I was new to the scene, didn't have money to pay an actual artist for a cover (or interior art, of which there is none), and hadn't flexed my drawing muscles in quite some time so just went along with it.

But it really wasn't, and when I realized that I flipped it over to Pay What You Want because maybe, just maybe you could build upon it and get something useful out of it (and if you did, maybe you'd throw a buck or two my way, but I certainly don't blame anyone if they didn't).

Fast forward almost eight years and our art is looking waaay better: people are commissioning original art and buying our art packs. There's a team doing a German translation of Something Stirs in the Blackscale Brakes (they also did a translation of Lichfield) and they wanted us to do some actual fucking art for it (some of which you can see here).

Surprisingly, even though they liked the new cover they wanted the original skull cover for something else, but since it's garbage I decided to give it another go (not done with the linework, yet):

Some have stated that they prefer our older, simple style, but what do you think so far? Better? Worse? About the same?

Announcements
You can now get a physical copy of Dungeons & Delvers: Black Book in whatever format you want! We've also released the first big supplement for it, Appendix D, so pick that up if you want more of everything.

We've added the seventh issue of the Appendix D zine to Black Book (for free to boot). This one has aliens, robots, the nomad and spelllsword classes, spacecraft, energy weapons, and more!

Our latest Dungeon World class, The Apothecary, is now available. Next up is The Ranger.

Dwarven Vault is our sixth 10+ Treasures volume. If you're interested in thirty dwarven magic items (including an eye that lets you shoot lasers) and nearly a dozen new bits of dungeon gear, check it out!

Just released our second adventure for A Sundered World, The Golden Spiral. If a snail-themed dungeon crawl is your oddly-specific thing, check it out!

By fan demand, we've mashed all of our 10+ Treasure volumes into one big magic item book, making it cheaper and more convenient to buy in print (which you can now do).
